Associate Electrical Engineer – Job Specification
The Recruitment Co is on the search for an established Associate Electrical Engineer (Design) for our Illustrious client based in Manchester City Centre.
The role would include a mixture of client facing, leading projects/ project managing, developing junior staff but also still focused on design delivery. Opportunities to support business development and develop client relationships
Responsibilities:
- Project Design and Calculation Oversight:
- Approve outline and developing electrical systems philosophies, contributing to complex systems.
- Undertake final QA review of calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in system load calculations and central/secondary plant sizing.
- Design Documentation and Communication:
- Translate engineering concepts into presentations, reports, sketches, and drawings for client and stakeholder communication.
- Contribute to lighting strategy and control strategy development.
- Identify opportunities for digital automation and optimization of building systems.
- Review and approve digital tools and approaches for project enhancement.
- Identify potential risks and contribute to their mitigation in health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial aspects.
- Equipment Selection and Approval:
- Approve manufacturers for equipment use and provide authorization for senior engineers.
- Spot-check equipment schedules for accuracy.
- Provide final QA review of equipment schedules.
- Comment on Contractor Technical Submissions upon request.
- Report and Schedule Contribution:
- Contribute to and approve Stage 2 and Stage 3 reports.
- Spot-check and QA review Stage 4 technical schedules and drawings.
- Check and approve handover checklists and snagging reports.
- Assist senior engineer with technical queries and input to change control processes.
- Contribute to design notes, progress reports, and input to commissioning plans.
- Drawing Development and Review:
- Collaborate with senior engineer and BIM team for drawings and schematics.
- Assist in the development of concept schematics and zoning for preliminary and detailed designs.
- Approve RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4 drawings.
- Meeting Participation:
- Attend meetings and workshops as directed, contributing to project progression.
- Attend site meetings and coordinate the handover process under the Project Manager’s guidance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Previous experience in electrical engineering or related role.
- Strong understanding of RIBA stages and project design process.
- Proficiency in electrical systems calculations and design tools.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration and client interaction.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Familiarity with digital automation and optimization concepts.
- Knowledge of health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risk factors.
- Ability to work in a team and independently, adapting to project demands.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for electrical engineering and design.
Benefits
- Salary – based on candidate experience and suitability. generally range from £50-65k/annum
- 4% pension.
- Private health care.
- Hours – 9-5.30pm (1hr for lunch).
- work in the office Tue-Thurs with Mon and Fri flexible wfh days.
