The Recruitment Co. are currently recruiting on behalf of Bradford NHS Trust for a Band 5 Finance Assistant based at the Trust Headquarters.

£10.30-£11.50 dependant on experience

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

To provide a high quality, efficient and robust service and comprehensive support to the Financial Accounts team in providing a financial accounting service for the Trust, including responsibility for the accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions as well as month end and year end reporting.


  • Assist in the preparation of the Trust’s statutory annual accounts (including working papers) and other financial returns, including assisting with the NHS agreement of balances exercise. This will require a good knowledge of UK accounting standards, statute and appropriate guidelines as applicable to the NHS.
  • Request for transfers to be carried out to the National Loan Funds Investment Account. Record when the investment debits and credits the bank. Ensure interest received and allocated to the correct codes.
  • To have a working knowledge of VAT legislation as it is applied within the NHS, and to assist in the Trusts VAT claim submission in a timely and accurate manner, dealing with queries as appropriate.
  • Assist in the financial month end process, ensuring that necessary monthly adjustments / accruals are completed in delegated areas of responsibility. This will include reviewing / performing complex calculations and working papers to support these journals.
  • Act as a lead for the Financial Accounts department with NHS SBS.
  • Assist in implementing policies and procedures within the Financial Accounts department, planning and organising processes and procedures in line with Trust’s policies and objectives, ensuring that they are subsequently adhered to.
  • The post holder will be expected to provide cover for other Financial Accounts colleagues at a comparable level of responsibility.


  • Minimum of two years relevant experience working within a finance team
  • Experience in working with auditors and implementing recommendations
  • Experience with Oracle Financial Ledger and working with SBS


  • High level numeracy skills, competent in processing and interpreting figures
  • Highly competent in computers and associate software packages, particularly in the use of financial ledgers and Word. Excellent working knowledge of Excel
  • Meeting deadlines and managing conflicting priorities
  • Perform complex financial reconciliations
