Job title: Clinical Coder

Pay Rate: £10.35p/h (PAID WEEKLY)

Hours: Mon – Fri 37.5hrs per week

Location: Bolton (Based onsite)

3 Month Temp assignment

PLEASE NOTE: ALL CANDIDATE MUST OWN A DBS CERTIFICATE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT!

Day to day duties will include:

• To extract all clinical information from the patient health record, and to translate all medical terminology using ICD 10 (diagnostic codes) and OPCS 4 (procedure codes) in accordance with national and local policy.
• To ensure that all inpatient and outpatient appointments are coded within agreed timescales.
• To ensure the accuracy and completeness of the clinical record, which underpins the financial framework and SUS submissions.
• To develop a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology.
• To communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues as required.
• To use the relevant coding standard for all private patient coding.
• To validate and confirm the accuracy of all patient outcome data, and retrospectively complete any missing data using clinical information.
• Resolve all queries into the clinical coding and informatics team.
• Provide training support to new starters and colleagues.
• Develop an understanding of the HRG structure within the NHS.

You must also have:

• Basic understanding of clinical coding
• Ability to manage own workload
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to learn new ICT systems
• Experience in a data entry role
