37.5 hours per week

Job Duties:

• Milking cows (including in a byre)
• Feeding cows
• Mixing rations for cows using a mixer wagon
• Droving cows (bringing cows to and from fields/houses)
• Bedding cow houses and calving pens
• Keeping houses and yards tidy (involves brushing and power hosing)
• Keeping milking equipment clean
• Sowing fertiliser (driving a tractor with a fertiliser sower attached)
• Driving vehicles
• Managing silos (removing plastic covers/tyres from silos, and removing spoiled silage by hand)
• Handling cows (may involve use of hand shears to clip coat/assisting with veterinary treatment/calving Cows)
• Working in fields (fencing/checking animals). Assisting with calving
• Treating sick animals
• Recording animal data

You will have:

• Extensive experience of milking dairy cows
• Extensive experience of handling dairy cows
• Able to identify and treat sick animals
• Ability to safely operate a range of farm machinery types.
• Valid driving licence
• Highly desirable – A qualification in agriculture to at least NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
