In June 2024, the department have a desire to host a major open HR Forms Vacancy Approval Form – VAF-1
day for stakeholders. This open day should attract over 500 stakeholders and would focus on ‘sustainable
farming/food systems’. As such it would showcase a significant amount of AFBI science. A booklet would also
be produced and the event would include a range of partners such as QUB, CAFRE, UU etc. AFBI is also keen
to host a ‘schools open day’ (Feb/March 2024), again to showcase much of AFBI’s work in the area of sustainable
farming/food systems and potentially attracting 10-15 schools and over 150 GCSE/A level students.. Both these
events would be held at AFBI Hillsborough and both require significant planning in terms of logistics,
messaging and communications. These events would also contribute potentially to the 100yr anniversary of
AFBI Hillsborough.

The main purpose of the role is to deliver these two events (and potentially a number of other more minor
visits). The individual would work with AFBI staff and co- ordinate them as required to deliver the events. The
individual would contribute significantly to the development of written material and would ensure the
maximum impact is attained from the events and KT activity.

The following core expertise is required:

1. Have a strong knowledge of the NI agri-food sector and it’s challenges
2. Strong organizational capability
3. Being able to work with teams, not in a line management structure
4. Being able to write communications in various forms : including press releases for the print and broadcast media
5. Ability to organize a supporting social media campaign and comfortable with use of social media platforms
6. Proven ability to deliver impactful events to a range of stakeholders.
