Main Duties:

• To act as a strategic coach and mentor to businesses to provide bespoke support on how to:
• Manage innovation more effectively, and plan for future growth
• Develop innovation processes through the use of innovative tools in areas such as strategic management.
• To support businesses in developing a growth strategy and their own long term innovative operations, and help them develop new markets by connecting them to other supports including the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), Horizon Europe and Innovate UK.
• To facilitate a holistic analysis of the business to gain an in-depth understanding of its current performance and potential for growth, and to assist businesses to prioritise issues and risks to identify potential courses of action.

1. To identify and select innovation and growth support services that meet the agreed needs of the business, and sign post as necessary and appropriate.

2. Identify innovative businesses with the best growth potential, and deliver services and advice to those businesses.

3. To work as part of the Invest NI Innovate UK EDGE team referring companies to the other advisors where appropriate and in the interests of the company.

4. Work with Invest NI, Innovate UK colleagues and key stakeholders to identify and map external support available for companies and to enable them to benefit from a range of services.

5. Build effective relationships with individuals, organisations and stakeholders in Northern Ireland to develop a pipeline of high-quality referrals.

6. Gather data and information to demonstrate the impact of the innovation and growth support provided.

7. To undertake other duties that may be reasonably requested.

Specific Experience required:

1. Recent experience of assessing and understanding the specific needs and challenges of innovative SMEs.

2. Supporting and advising SMEs effectively to achieve enhanced business performance and growth through:

i. Providing mentoring at a senior level in the area of innovation tools;

ii. Applying practical innovation management tools and processes; and

iii Working with companies to develop an innovation commercialisation strategy.

3. Recent experience of helping companies establish clear, impact driven measurable goals for their innovation strategies with alignment to their overall business growth strategies.

4. Evidence of building effective relationships with individuals, organisations and stakeholders, using influencing skills to achieve customer focussed objectives.

5. Evidence of a good understanding of the innovation ecosystem in Northern Ireland and of the regional and national supports available for businesses, including funding through Innovate UK, Horizon Europe or through other financial vehicles.

6. Experience of proactively managing conflicting priorities to ensure business needs are met.

7. Experience of working in teams to deliver beneficial results.

8. That they possess a full driving license and have use of a car for business purposes OR have access to a form of transport which will permit travel throughout Northern Ireland to meet the requirements of the post in full, both in a timely and effective manner.
