Our client, a leading public sector organisation, based in Belfast are looking to recruit a Financial Accounting Technician (EO1) to join their team.

The role is available immediately for 6 months.

Bedford Street, Belfast (working from home where they can but also 1-2 days per week working in the office as part of the Finance team).

Hourly Pay: £14.92

37 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am – 5.15pm.

Key Responsibilities:

· Manage the Accounts Receivable process from end to end.

· Cash and bank management, including month-end reconciliations.

· Manage the credit control function, end to end management of the debt management process.

· Provide input into the preparation of statutory annual accounts.

· Set up new customers on Tourism NI’s Finance system.

· Process payments over the telephone.

· Prepare month-end journals to ensure accurate financial and management reporting.

· Assist with internal processes around budgetary management.

· Prepare information for external audit.

· Provide cover for accounts payable, receivable and payroll when necessary.

 

Additional Duties

 

· Assist with the preparation of documentation relevant to the work of the Finance team. This may involve the administration of sensitive and confidential information.

 

· Ensure good governance and compliance at all times in line with relevant guidelines.

 

· Take a collaborative approach, working with others in the team/organisation, in order to support the Finance team and to add value and deliver best practice.

 

· Attend training as and when required and keep abreast of current developments in your area of work.

· Maintain, store and dispose of Unit records in accordance with Tourism NI’s policy including the use of record management systems including Microsoft Teams, Dynamics 365 and SharePoint.

 

Essential Criteria:

i. A Level passes in two subjects; and GCSE grades A-C in English and Mathematics, or equivalent.

 

AND

 

ii. A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a financial accounting function, preferably with experience of financial transaction processing (accounts payable and receivable), credit control and the preparation of monthly reconciliation accounts.

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA – Personal Effectiveness

 

The Job Holder will also possess a high standard of:

 

i. IT/Computer Literacy skills including practical experience in the use of accounting software, Excel spreadsheets and Word.

 

ii. Effective organisational and planning skills including the ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.

 

iii. Ability to work within a team environment including the ability to plan and prioritise work to meet strict accounting deadlines and to work on own initiative.

 

iv. Demonstrable communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

 

v. Accuracy and attention to detail.

 

PREFERRED CRITERIA

 

i. Studying for, or be prepared to study for, a recognised accounting technician’s qualification.

 

 

ii. Experience of public sector accounting.
