Main Purpose of the Job:
The Fitness Instructor will ensure the effective operation of the Fitness Suite within Seven Towers Leisure Centre, providing exceptional service and support to members. The role focuses on delivering tailored fitness programs, inductions, monitoring equipment use, and contributing to a safe and motivating fitness environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive inductions for new members, providing current fitness instructions.
- Develop and supervise individually tailored fitness programs, monitor and evaluate progress, and provide nutritional and weight management advice.
- Offer specialized inductions for groups like Special Needs groups, school groups, physio referrals, and cardiac rehab patients.
- Provide fitness programs for members referred under a G.P. Referral Scheme.
- Promote innovative and engaging health and leisure programs within set guidelines.
- Assist with lessons, training, coaching courses, and special events as required.
- Contribute to new staff and work placement inductions.
- Offer quality customer care, addressing queries, complaints, and providing information on center facilities.
Administration and Maintenance:
- Manage facility administration, including appointment scheduling and stock replenishment.
- Ensure hygiene and cleanliness standards in the fitness suite and surroundings.
- Conduct daily facility inspections, report faults, perform or arrange minor repairs.
- Maintain accurate documentation, safety checks, cleaning schedules, and incident reports.
- Monitor facility entry, adhere to access policies, and track receipts.
Health and Safety:
- Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, considering the safety of colleagues, users, and contractors.
- Actively participate in training plans, including Quest achievement/maintenance.
- Uphold Core Values and contribute to organizational objectives as per the Corporate Plan.
- Participate in the Council’s Performance and Development Review process.
- Fulfill legal Health and Safety duties, ensuring compliance and cooperation.
- Support anti-discrimination practices, Equality Scheme, and relevant legislation.
- Maintain personal accountability and comply with the Code of Conduct.
This job description provides the primary duties as of its completion date. The role’s flexibility allows for adjustments to meet Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s evolving needs without changing the post’s character or responsibility level.
- Current recognized fitness qualification (e.g., BAWLA, NIIC), proven fitness training/instruction track record, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Six months’ experience in a Fitness Suite or similar relevant environment.
- Maintain a sufficient fitness level to fulfill job responsibilities.

- Reps Level 3 Chronic Respiratory Disease qualification or equivalent.
- Computer operation experience in a Fitness Suite environment.
- Additional relevant experience, marketing, and sales support ability.
