Hours:
09:00am – 17:00pm (Monday to Friday)
Job Responsibilities:
- Support Head of Purchasing with day to day management and decision making within the team
- Manage, coach, support and develop team of Junior Buyers and International Logistics Co-ordinator
- Provide oversight and direction to the Junior Buyers in the task of product research and sourcing of new products, taking ownership for ensuring the job is done to the required standards
- Prepare quotes and arrange all shipments of Imports and Exports for our client’s Site, ensuring best value for the business, whilst making certain regulatory requirements are met fully
- Provide timely and accurate clearance instructions to Carriers and Brokers in the UK, Northern Ireland, EU and rest of World
- Take responsibility for selection, audit and day to day management of logistics providers involved in import and export across the business, ensuring the most appropriate and capable providers are in place to meet the required needs of the business
- Act as a central point and subject matter expert for all shipping and customs related activities. Analyse and interpret export and import regulations, updating the business and internal process documents where appropriate
- Own, manage and monitor all customs activities, ensuring goods are declared accurately and in a timely manner, and that all paperwork is filed appropriately , and that export documentation is processed in accordance with International Law
- Take ownership of all dealings with HMRC, in conjunction with finance where necessary, in relation to audits, the Northern Ireland Trader Support Service, customs declarations and VAT and Duty payments. Perform monthly audits of import records and ensure the correct application of UK customs legislation in terms of custom valuation methods, tariff classification and country of origin (preferential and non-preferential) specific to Trade Agreements
- Manage all aspects of logistics in relation to MHRA regulations and GDP requirements, including preparing and participating in audits, carrying out risk assessments, and managing and completing deviations
- Overall ownership for managing spend on inbound shipping in line with shipping spend budget
- Own and maintain SOP’s, processes and training manuals for all import and export activities, ensuring any changes in regulations are incorporated
The Person:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role managing imports and exports
- Up-to-date working knowledge of import and export regulations, including a thorough understanding of international customs and paperwork procedures
- Understanding and experience working with Incoterms
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Passion for driving change and focus on continuous improvement
- Experience in managing people
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Effective communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with a high attention to detail
- Good level of computer literacy, to include all main Microsoft Office packages
