Our client, a large public sector organisation, based in Belfast Port is looking to recruit a Livestock Handler to join their team.

Hourly Pay: £11.70 – Shift allowance available for a pay rate of £13.99

Location: Belfast Port

Length of Assignment: Initially expected to last up to 6 months with an option to extend

Hours: Hours per Week (max 37) 37 hours per week excluding lunch breaks. This will be worked as part of a shift arrangement which will include regular weekend and night duty. It is expected that the four-week shift pattern will provide coverage for 3 shifts of 8.24 hours duration every 24 hours i.e. early, late and overnight shifts An example of working times is as follows:

Early Shift: Sunday to Saturday
Late Shift: Sunday to Saturday
Night Shift: Sunday to Saturday

The working pattern is currently based on a recurring 4 week shift pattern of a combination of early, late and night shifts with rest days

Staff are required to work 6 nights during the night shift week.

Subject to business needs, shift patterns/times may vary and be subject to change.

Start date: ASAP (Clearance and registration must be completed beforehand)

Main Duties:

The characteristics and overall level of knowledge and skills which have to be most commonly applied in this role include:
· Knowledge to include handling Livestock, Equines and small animals
· Be able to demonstrate two years’ experience in the last ten years of handling livestock
· Be able to demonstrate two years’ experience in the last ten years of handling equines
· A full valid UK driving licence continuously held for the last 3 years including categories B+E (car and trailer combinations) or equivalent towing requirement.***

**Livestock is defined as being agriculture animals, the main species being cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry
Small animals includes cats, dogs and other pets
