We are seeking a voluntary co-ordinator for our client in the Belfast BT12 area.

The role is 30 hours per week with an hourly rate of £13.12

Main Duties

· Plan, coordinate and monitor the activities undertaken by volunteers on particular sites or within service groups

· Review and develop the role descriptions for volunteers to ensure they are fit for purpose, meet the needs of patients and clients whilst ensuring they complement the core services of the Trust.

· Participate in the recruitment and selection of volunteers ensuring they are matched to suitable placements where adequate local support has been identified and is provided on an appropriate basis.

· Coordinate, in conjunction with administrative support, the relevant POCVA and Occupational Health checks for prospective volunteers. Assist with the maintenance of appropriate records either in hard or electronic form.

· Carry out placement review and support meetings with volunteers throughout the Trust on a timely basis.

· Identify local training needs for volunteers and support the organization of these being met locally.

· Support the Volunteer Coordinator Manager in the delivery of volunteer induction programmes and training. Assist in the organization of meetings and recognition events as appropriate.

· Assist the Volunteer Coordinator Manager in the promotion of volunteering opportunities within the Trust both internally and with the use of external partners.

· Assist the Volunteer Coordinator Manager to raise the profile and awareness of volunteering amongst trust staff.

· Contribute to the development of the annual volunteer services management plan.

· Collate relevant information on volunteers and volunteer activity within a particular locality and/or service group ensuring records and database information is accurate and updated in a timely manner.

· Keep up-to-date with changes in policies and legislation relevant to the role such as Recruitment and Selection, Data Protection etc. ensuring compliance with these and all Trust Policies at all times.

· Provide appropriate written reports for the volunteer services manager as required.

· Contribute to the Trust’s overall governance strategy in accordance with thye Public Sector values, codes of conduct and accountability.

· Work within the volunteer services budgetary restraints, providing advice on the cost of planned projects and consultations

· Ensure that volunteers are aware of the Trust’s policies and procedures in relation to claiming expenses, ensuring these are appropriately processed and assist in resolution of issues regarding same if required.

· Such other duties as appropriate.

Essential Criteria

  1. A university degree or equivalent qualification and one year’s relevant experience in an administrative and/or human resources environment.




A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in an administrative and/or human resources environment.



  1. Awareness of issues relating to volunteering and social care


  1. Experience in working with Microsoft office products.


  1. Effective communication skills


  1. Ability to work as part of a team


  1. Ability to use own initiative


  1. A full current driving licence with access to a car or access to a form of transport to meet the mobility needs of the post.
