Job Title – Merchandising Manager

Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Length Of Service: Temporary to Permanent (depending on performance.)

Position: Permanent, Full-time, Hybrid

Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:45 am – 17:30pm.

Location: (PL6), Plymouth

About the role:

We have an outstanding opportunity for a Merchandising Manager. The primary

responsibility of this role will be to analyse and identify issues related to stock availability, manage a team of analysts, and ensure effective merchandising strategies are implemented.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse manual allocations to prevent overstocks in store.
  • Analyse product and weather correlation, identify products heavily impacted by weather and ensure enough stock is in store to keep up with demand.
  • Review key promotional activity to ensure full availability in store to meet demand.
  • Reviewing and working with departments on seasonal entry and exit, managing the strategy to ensure all key tasks have taken place and on time, working with deadlines.
  • Analyse stock availability and identify potential issues or opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement effective merchandising strategies to optimise product availability and maximise sales.
  • Manage a team of analysts, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality performance and achievement of objectives.
  • Utilise data analysis techniques to extract valuable insights and inform decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including buying and supply chain to align merchandising strategies with overall business goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels, sales trends, and customer demands to identify potential gaps or overstocks.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of merchandising efforts and propose corrective actions when necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience using Microsoft packages is essential – primarily Excel
  • Proven experience as a Merchandising Manager or a similar role in a retail setting
  • Excellent leadership abilities with the capacity to manage and motivate a team of analysts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Can deal with a number of tasks simultaneously with good planning and organisation skills.
  • Good communication skills
  • Can work well under pressure
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in SQL coding is highly desired, although training can be provided if necessary
