The Recruitment Co. is urgently recruiting for a Plant Engineer (Mechanical) to join our clients team based in the Port Talbot area.
Rate of Pay: Up to £40,000 + Benefits
Hours of work: Full time / Day shifts
Contract: Permanent
The Role
You will support the Area Engineering Manager with the coordination of the area’s engineering activities and implementation of appropriate engineering standards to drive continuously improving manufacturing performance, to deliver our Annual Plan. The incumbent of the role will continuously develop and implement a cost effective preventative maintenance regime in line with the maintenance strategy for the dept.
You will support and drive the failure analysis processes and ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards and strategy for the dept (e.g. management of spares, management of contractors, budget management, engineering standards & procedures. etc
What our client is looking for:-
- Previous experience in mechanical plant engineering work.
- You must have a minimum HNC level or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, but ideally be degree qualified.
- Applicants will have an appreciation of the techniques, problems and standards associated with steel or related engineering disciplines.
Key attributes:-
- A knowledge of problem solving techniques with computer literacy and good oral and written communication skills.
- In depth knowledge of Permit Systems such as Fluid Power & Authorisation to Work
- Ideally IOSH qualified
- Proactively identify sources of plant improvement & instigate maintenance improvement plans as well as manage small SRE/CAPEX projects
- Provide mentoring & engineering technical support for the mechanical day craft team
- Understanding of engineering compliance would be advantageous e.g. PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, COMAH & DSEAR
- Understanding of contractor governance.
- Ownership of the plant area & equipment spares, ensuring that plant downtime is minimised
- Previous experience of CMMS, ideally SAP
- Manage technical documentation & procedural systems
- Ability to develop & review RA/SWP’s
