Production Shift Chemist – Food manufacturing

Salary – £27,000 per annum

Daventry, Northants

Hours: 37.5 per week – A 2-shift rotating system operates; 06:00-14:00 Monday to Friday and 13:45-22:00
Monday -Thursday and 13:45-20:45 on Friday

Our Daventry client primarily manufacture flavour and fragrance chemicals for use in the food industry and are looking for a Production Shift Chemist. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and dynamic company.

Responsibilities:

• Duties of the Production Chemist revolve around the small scale manufacture (5L-25L) of Flavour & Fragrance chemicals
• Using a wide variety of classical chemical synthesis techniques
• Using distillation as the main method of post-synthesis purification
• Working in one of the two Production laboratories and be involved in routine manufacture and the introduction of new processes

Requirements:

• A degree or equivalent in Chemistry
• Enthusiasm and a desire to learn
• Good team player
• Experience of small scale chemistry at University or College
• Some knowledge of safe working practices i.e. COSHH
• Some knowledge of analytical methods such as GLC
• Previous experience of working within a chemical manufacturing organisation
