The Recruitment Co are recruiting for a Quality Assurance Team Leader based in Leigh, WN7

Salary: £30K + Discretionary Incentive Scheme of up to 7% of basic salary

Hours: Monday to Friday – Office Hours

Location: Leigh, WN7

Permanent Opportunity – Must have experience working within a food production envelopment.

Job Purpose

● Develop, motivate and empower the Quality Assurance team to ensure successful
delivery of the site strategy.
● Effective deputization and support to the QA Manager and manufacturing operations.
● Monitor and develop technical standards through review of quality and food safety
systems ensuring that standards are adhered to.
● Ensure the out of specification product is properly controlled at each stage of the
process and coordinate associated investigations to the point of completion.
Key Accountabilities

Examples of what this role has ownership for:
● Full line management of QA team (5 direct reports) including out of hours support.
● Develop your Team by identifying potential, supporting / nurturing development and
team building and where necessary manage performance that is below the expected
standard in line with company procedures.
● Support the QA team in ensuring that the highest standards are achieved &
maintained, this will also include championing CI, process optimization and spot
checks on quality of paperwork.
● Coordinate quarantine of Semi/Finished product through online quarantine system
with clear communication to the wider business, support investigations with the site
teams, driving close out;
● Make sure that any quality and food safety problems in production are investigated;
resolved with Root Cause and corrective actions, and that appropriate concessions
are in place and signed off.
● Management of the Red Hold reviews for Finished Goods and escalation of serious
issues or blockages to the QA Manager;
● Glass management lead for the site liaising with supplier(s) for prompt investigation
and turnaround;
● Administration for the site’s food safety incident reporting and waste management
systems ensuring the information is correct, accurate and progressed in a timely
fashion.
● Manage customer complaint investigations and generation of responses, liaising with
relevant departments as required & maintain the complaints tracker ensure it is up to
date and date is trended;
● Ambassador for site standards driving a positive and collaborative approach to GMP
issues involved in any initiatives contributing to food safety and quality culture.

Examples of what this role will support:
● Provide support for manufacturing and PD on technical issues and trials / 1st
productions;
● Support the site’s internal audits: G&HP, GMP, Quality Systems, Prerequisites &
traceability exercises.
● Technical expert for mettler/autocoding/freeweigh/Ishida systems;
● Provide resources, knowledge and expertise to Technical and Manufacturing
management during 2nd and 3rd party audit.

● Be organised and diligent with high attention to detail, setting and maintaining high
standards for both self and the team;
● Be able to build powerful partnerships across the Leigh site functions & with external
suppliers;
● Able to demonstrate successful issue resolution with Stakeholders and
understanding of wider business needs
● Be an advocate for food safety with relevant experience to demonstrate;
● Be experienced within a food-manufacturing environment ideally with demonstrable
GMP mindset
