JOB VACANCY: Quality Inspector – Manufacturing Business

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £26,000.00 – £30,0000 per year

About Us: Our client, a globally recognised manufacturing business specialising in hydraulic systems and components for commercial vehicles, is seeking a Quality Inspector to join their dedicated team. With a century of expertise, our client has earned its reputation as an industry leader, providing customised hydraulic solutions and exceptional quality to the tipping market.

Job Summary: As a Quality Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of our products. Your responsibilities will include Incoming Goods-In and Final Inspection activities, as well as addressing immediate factory quality issues and Warranty processes. This role presents an excellent opportunity for someone eager to gain knowledge and experience in our quality processes.

What You Will Need:

  • Experience in using conventional measuring equipment and the ability to determine suitable measurement methods to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including geometric tolerances to BS8888.
  • A strong understanding of calibration control processes.
  • PC literacy, including the ability to create simple reports using Excel and/or Word.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with tubular products and thread measurement.
  • Familiarity with raw/machined forgings and castings.
  • Expertise in inspecting coated/painted products.
  • Knowledge of FARO arm measurement.
  • Experience in CMM programming using Virtual DMIS/Aberlink.

Desirable Skills:

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant gauging and inspection technology, including hand gauges and micrometers.
  • The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate findings with key stakeholders within the Engineering team.
  • Safety-conscious with the confidence to work autonomously.
  • Willingness to contribute to procedure development and continuous improvement.
  • Basic understanding of test techniques, including strain gauging, servo actuation, computer/PLC control, data logging, and hydraulic circuits.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills for tear-down of hydraulic products.
  • A fundamental understanding of fitting, welding, machining, electrics/electronics, materials, measurement, and hydraulic controls/systems.
  • Strong communication skills, excellent timekeeping, and attendance.
