Duration: Ongoing – Project Work
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (37 hours per week)
Rate of Pay: £15.97 per hour

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Scientific Officer to join our team based in Lisburn. This is a temporary role with the potential for ongoing project work. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting water regulation efforts, particularly focusing on Site Drainage/Private Sewage and Abstraction and Impoundment Licensing.

Main Duties:

  • Assist scientific staff in their day-to-day duties, providing support during water abstraction site visits and contributing to a joint project on site drainage and private sewage.
  • Deliver results efficiently, managing tasks against agreed timelines and competing priorities.
  • Participate in required site visits, which may involve walking or hiking significant distances.
  • Communicate effectively with senior staff and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise information sharing.
  • Work independently while also contributing positively to the overall success of the team and RTP.
  • Perform any other duties as required by line management.

Essential Criteria:

  • GCE/GCSE O Levels Grade A-C in English, Mathematics, and Double Award Science or 2 science subjects including chemistry, biology, physics, or geography.
  • Basic Access NI Check.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Physically capable of walking/hiking significant distances for site visits.

Desired Criteria:

  • Proficient in IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative.
