Location: Belfast City Centre
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Duration: 9 Months (Maternity Cover)
Rate of Pay: £17.94 per hour
Are you an experienced data analyst with a keen eye for detail and a passion for statistical analysis? We have an exciting opportunity for a Statistical Officer to join our team in Belfast City Centre. This is a temporary role, covering maternity leave, and is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Main Duties:
As a Statistical Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Standards Assurance Unit in measuring and analysing data related to social security benefits. Your responsibilities will include:
- Measuring Official Error & Fraud: Facilitating the SAU in assessing the levels of official error, customer fraud, and error in the main social security benefits.
- Data Sampling: Providing quarterly samples to measure Fraud and Error (F&E) rates.
- Consultancy & Liaison: Offering consultancy services to the SAU and liaising with the Northern Ireland Audit Office on behalf of the department.
- Workload Forecasting: Producing workload forecasts to enable the Staff Resourcing Unit to allocate resources effectively across the benefits system.
- National Statistics Publications: Compiling and disseminating the Benefit Statistics Summary, a national statistics publication for social security benefits. This quarterly publication will be released through the Department’s website.
Essential Criteria:
We are looking for a proactive and analytical individual who meets the following criteria:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, while also managing individual workloads and projects.
- Experience in managing and analysing large datasets.
- Proficient IT skills with experience using software packages, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with SQL and/or SAS for data analysis.
- Proven ability in gathering data from various sources, and ensuring quality assurance of outputs.
- A Degree in Statistics or Statistical research/ Related fields
