🌟 Exciting Opportunity in Stormont: Lab Assistant SGB2 Position 🌟
Our client, a dynamic organization based in Stormont, is currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Lab Assistant SGB2 to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a vital aspect of the organization’s operations, with the potential for a 3-month initial contract and the possibility of extension.
Position Details:
- Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
- Location: Stormont
- Duration: 3 months initially with the possibility of extension
- Rate of Pay: £10.94 per hour
Main Duties Include:
- Collection and sorting of DSIB/Histo samples, Recording and reporting of any issues or non-conformances.
- Work to ISO17025 standards, including associated duties related to ISO accreditation such as updating records, temperature monitoring, and airflow monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively within a team to deliver diagnostic, statutory, and research results within specified time schedules.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations.
- Maintain laboratory records using Excel spreadsheets, scanning, filing, and emailing paperwork.
- Responsible for the disposal of Histology waste and routine cleanliness, calibration, and maintenance of Histology instrumentation.
- Perform tasks such as lifting and labeling paraffin wax sections onto glass slides.
- Manage the ordering and collection of store items, conduct stock taking of consumable items, and monitor the usage of chemicals and consumables.
- Undertake any other duties as required to maintain compliance with quality standards and/or SOPs in Histology.
Essential Criteria:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including a science subject, plus Maths and English graded A to C or the level 2 equivalent.
Desirable Criteria:
- A general science background would be beneficial.
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment is advantageous.
- Effective communication skills.
