About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Porter in Belfast hospitals. As a vital member of our support services team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient and client support services within our healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities:
General Portering Duties:
- Assist in the safe transfer of patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Handle patient belongings and medical equipment with care and discretion.
- Clean and maintain wheelchairs and other portering equipment.
- Deliver and collect medical supplies, confidential files, and specimens between departments.
- Participate in ward and office decants as directed.
- Transport blood and blood products in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Assist with waste management duties, including transporting waste to disposal areas.
Post Duties:
- Collect and deliver routine and urgent mail items, ensuring proper documentation.
- Accept postage items from postal providers and courier delivery firms.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment and follow infection control guidelines.
