Position: Administrative Officer (AO)

Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week, 9am – 5pm Mon to Fri

Duration: 4/10/26 with possibility of extension

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Jubilee House, 111 Ballykelly Road, Limavady, Londonderry, BT49 9HP

 


 

Job Duties:

AO – LIST OF DUTIES

Scrapie Monitored Flock Scheme
• Issuing application packs
• Requesting preliminary visits
• Sending renewal letters
• Sending suspension letters
• Updating SMFS spreadsheet
• Updating NIFAIS
• Trimming documents

Bull to Artificial Insemination (AI)
• Issuing applications
• Processing returned applications
• Printing information from NIFAIS
• Issuing paperwork to veterinary practices
• Emailing AI services
• Handling paperwork approved by Veterinary Officer
• Issuing approval paperwork to AI services
• Informing veterinary practices and applicants of approval
• Updating AI spreadsheet
• Responding to AI queries from outside the department
• Trimming documents including lab reports and inspections

Administration of Other AI/Embryo Approvals
• Approving embryo collection/transplantation teams and storage
• Administering pig AI inspections and approvals
• Administering equine storage inspections and approvals
• Updating NIFAIS and spreadsheets

Animal By‑Products
• Issuing new applications
• Creating enterprise and tests on NIFAIS
• Issuing yearly reminders
• Requesting inspections
• Updating current applications and licences
• Updating spreadsheet
• Requesting approval numbers from DEFRA for EC premises
• Chasing outstanding AI inspections
• Updating DAERA web pages
• Trimming documents

General Office Duties
• Arranging meetings, minutes, agendas and catering
• Lodging cheques
• Ordering stationery
• TRACES administration

 


 

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSE’s A*-C including Maths and English (must be able to show evidence)

 

Desired Experience: 

• Good organisational and planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Have good knowledge of using software packages e.g., Microsoft office
