We are currently recruiting for AO’s based in Foyle – Derry
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
Hours of work: Full time
The contracted hours are: 37 hours Mon to Fri, hours of 9am-5pm
Rate of pay: £12.59
Main Duties:
Ensure that information is provided promptly and sensitively to victims and witnesses, in line with agreed timescales and by their preferred means of communication where possible and in line with our obligations under the Victim Charter.
Conduct and review victim and witness needs assessments, manage expressed needs in an appropriate manner, and signpost to statutory and voluntary agencies for professional support;
Secure and record availability of civilian victims and witnesses using their preferred means of communication, and officers through Options;
Issue requirements to attend Court and/or witness summonses where directed to victims, civilian and expert witnesses and PSNI officers and record response/service in line with our obligations under the Victim Charter.
Identify where Special Measures may be appropriate for vulnerable victims and witnesses where this has not been noted, and to act on this information following agreed procedure in line with our obligations under the Victim Charter
Liaise with other sections, Prosecutors over witness availability and attendance and follow procedures where witness difficulties arise;
Liaise with both statutory and voluntary agencies to facilitate the provision of support and services to victims and witnesses.
Escalate and refer any queries to line manager as appropriate;
Input and maintain up-to-date data on CMS system in accordance with agreed procedures and verify currency of information using the NICHE system;
Book interpreters for victims and witnesses where English is not their first language;
Arrange and book travel and accommodation for victims and witnesses living outside NI;
Arrange for payment of interpretation and travel services through AccountNI;
Contribute to the design and implementation of appropriate and effective systems of service monitoring and evaluation;
Undertake general administrative duties as defined by VWCU policy and practice; and
Maintain and update professional knowledge by identification of own training and development needs, updating practice and attending relevant training courses, as agreed with line manager.
Essential Criteria:
– 5 GCSE’s A-C to include Maths and English (You must be able to provide proof)
