Location: Omagh
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 8 Months (Maternity Cover, Possible extension if Maternity is extended)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (37 hours per week)
Rate of Pay: £12.59 per hour

Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Admin Officer to join our team in Omagh for an 8-month maternity cover period, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support across various duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Library and Data Management:
    • Collect, collate, and catalogue specialist livestock breeding and sales reference information.
    • Maintain an up-to-date accessible library format and incorporate new reference sources.
    • Perform data collation, analysis, and electronic/manual organization, providing research support for livestock valuers.
    • Maintain an effective cross-referencing system and retrieve historical data as needed.
  2. General Administration:
    • Process incoming and outgoing post for the unit.
    • Maintain the LVO daily work schedule.
    • Order office stationery and manage training records for LVOs.
    • Provide administrative support for the Valuation Team Leader during epizootic disease emergencies.
    • Manage filing, create space through regular weeding, and handle notifications of dead badger/fox reports.
    • Record and distribute DNA tags and bags for LVOs, and run COGNOS reports.
  3. Financial Duties:
    • Prepare, copy, forward, and file phone bills.
  4. Case Work:
    • Set up and maintain case files for contentious valuations.
  5. Market Information:
    • Copy and distribute market information, including sales catalogues.
    • Enter market prices data onto spreadsheets and update layouts as required.
  6. Valuation Support:
    • Provide administrative support for LVOs on farms via telephone.
    • Source and download relevant animal movement, pedigree, and price information.
    • Maintain accurate records and submit price data within set timeframes.
    • Handle pregnancy queries from slaughter sheets, ensure pedigree certificates are received and forwarded, and flag discrepancies in valuations.
    • Assist with herd buy-outs, valuation standardization, and resolve DNA-related queries.
  7. Independent Valuations and Appeals:
    • Create and process Independent Valuations (IVs) on APHIS and maintain accurate case files.
    • Assist with appeals preparation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English, graded A to C (or Level 2 equivalent). Evidence required.
  • Successful candidates must pass an Access NI check.
