Administrative Officer (Nightshift)

Antrim

£12.31 per hour

Night Shift work commencing 7.30pm to 7.30 am will include weekend and Bank holiday cover as per rota cover

Hours per week- Min 23 max 34.5

JOB SUMMARY:

The postholder will provide a high level clerical service to Consultants, Medical Staff and other Professionals in ED and work as an integral part of the team. He/She will be expected to work under pressure without direct supervision. As the post holder will be ED based, he/she may be exposed to odours and will have sight of patients in distressing situations and specimens taken for investigations. He/She will use the Patient Administration and Symphony Computerised Systems and full training will be given.

KEY RESULT AREAS / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Casenote Duties

  • Retrieval and preparation of casenotes for emergency admissions and ED clinics.
  • Maintain casenotes of patients whilst in ED ensuring that all items are securely fastened in the casenotes. Maintain an adequate supply of addressographs, in each casenote.
  • Filing of laboratory test results, x-ray reports and general correspondence within the casenotes whilst patient is in ED.
  • Collation of laboratory test results and x-ray reports after discharge from the ward and processing to ensure signed format is filed within the patients’
  • Ensure an adequate supply of ward admission packs, relevant forms and care plans for the department.
  • Daily transfer of casenotes to secretarial offices and/or medical records/other departments.

Filing of all nursing assessments paperwork following discharge of patient into patients’ casenotes

General Duties

  • Provide a clerical service to the Ward/Department Manager, Nursing Staff and other professionals.
  • Distribution of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Continual use of VDU to provide information as required.
  • Order and maintain an adequate supply of stationery as required by the ward/department through non stock, stock and high density storage system.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

3 years’ experience in an office environment to include the use of computerised systems e.g. Microsoft Office.

OR

*4 GCSE’s (A-C) including English Language or equivalent and 1 years admin experience to include use of computerised systems e.g. Microsoft Office.

Other

  • Flexibility in working hours – shift work will apply including working weekends/bank holidays/night shifts.
