Position: Assistant Statistician/ Staff Officer (SO)

Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week, Full-time, Monday to Friday, Flexi

Duration: 30/06/2026 with possibility of extension

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Colby House, Stranmillis Court, Belfast, BT9 5RR

 

Job Duties:

The postholder will work within NISRA’s Technology and Support Lab (Tech Lab).  The Tech Lab’s main aim is to optimise new and existing technology to support NISRA staff to improve process efficiency, deliver innovative solutions and facilitate learning through collaboration.

Main Duties:

  • Develop, deliver, evaluate and promote Reproducible Analytical Pipeline (RAP) and automation projects
  • Create HTML reports, interactive dashboards and other data visualisation outputs
  • Design content/outputs for useability and accessibility
  • Work well in a diverse team in a fast-paced environment using Agile and Lean Six Sigma Methods.
  • Help to inform best practice in terms of data management, security and interrogation.
  • Share and demonstrate code to other NISRA Teams through informal coding sessions.
  • Other work as required by the Head of the Tech Lab.

 

 

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSE’s A*-C including Maths and English (must be able to show evidence)
  • A degree (must be able to show evidence). Applicants must have At least a second class honours degree [2.2] that includes at least one module in statistics, data analysis or social science research methods
  • Experience of coding in R, SQL or similar is essential.

 

Desired Experience: 

  • Experience of using Git and creating data visualisations preferable.

 

*The successful applicant will be required to complete an Access NI during registration*
