We are currently recruiting for an Staff Officer based in Belfast. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months with a possibility of extension
Rate of pay: £19.59
Hours of work: 9 to 5, Monday- Friday (37 hours) Flexible hours
Key Responsibilities:
This post relates to the NILS and ADRC Research Support Unit and involves supporting government and academic research. The post-holder will be involved primarily in supporting ADRC research projects but will also be expected to undertake activities relating to NILS.
(i) Day to day management of the Research Support Unit –
• supervise the secure research environment and maintain the strict processes in place for data confidentiality;
• respond to data and project related queries from researchers;
• maintain records of project activity;
(ii) ADR NI project support activities –
• liaise with researchers, data suppliers and ADR NI TTP to discuss the feasibility of new research projects;
• create Feasibility and Privacy Impact Assessment reports;
• create Data Sharing Agreements;
• create project specific data extracts for researchers;
• create Disclosure Control reports;
• clear and disseminate intermediate and final outputs according to specified timeframe and in line with disclosure control guidelines.
(iii) NILS project support activities –
• liaise with researchers to discuss feasibility of new research projects;
• provide detailed advice on variables and data available;
• assist researchers through the research approvals process;
• create project specific data extracts for researchers;
• clear and disseminate intermediate and final outputs according to specified timeframe and in line with disclosure control guidelines;
• liaise with NILS TTP on linkage of Distinct Linkage Projects;
• create new database, data dictionary and metadata for bi-annual release.
(iv) Production of ADR NI and NILS documentation as required.
(v) Attendance and minute taking (where appropriate) at ADR NI or NILS working groups.
The post holder will perform the duties through a combination of home and office working arrangements.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:.
Applicants must have At least a second class honours degree [2.2] that includes at least one module in statistics, data analysis or social science research methods
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience of managing/analysing large datasets
• Good data analysis/presentation and IT skills and the ability to work with a variety of software packages – Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and particularly SQL Server
• Good time management and project management skills
Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to use own initiative.
