Are you a talented and motivated individual with a passion for statistics and data analysis? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are currently seeking an Assistant Statistician to join our team in the Hospital Information Branch.

Job Title: Assistant Statistician

Rate of Pay: £17.09 Per Hour

Assignment Length: 3 months with potential need for extension

Hours: Full Time, 37 Hours per week, Flexible working hours and hybrid working

Location: Stormont

Key Responsibilities:

• Build an understanding of the Hospital Inpatient System database and supplementary returns and keep up to date with any developments.
• Develop skills in extracting the relevant data from these systems using a range of statistical tools and outputs.
• Keep up to date with information on how the move to ENCOMPASS may affect our ability to access, extract, and therefore publish data.
• Identify ways to improve these systems to deliver more streamlined resources, both collectively with the Trusts, and internally by looking to move validations to quicker, easier-replicated R Studio syntax.
• Continue to develop analysis on inpatient and day case data and use this to answer a range of queries.
• Collect, validate, analyze, and produce monthly information on inpatient and day case admissions.
• Produce the annual National Statistics report on “Inpatient and Day Case Activity.”
• Responsibility for validating and maintaining coding framework for inpatient activity dataset.
• Publish the annual report “Acute Episode-Based Statistics.”

Essential Criteria:

• Evidence of Degree Level Education in relation to statistics.
• Experience working with statistics.

Desired Experience:

• Experience of using SPSS or R desirable.
