We are currently recruiting an Assistant Waste Supervisor to join our client in Ballymena
37 hours per week Monday – Friday
3 months initially with possible extension
£16.37 per hour
Immediate start
Job duties include but are not limited to the below
- Responsible to the Waste Operations Supervisor for the supervision of the Council’s Refuse Collection, Recycling Collection, Street Cleaning and Public Conveniences cleaning services
- Assist with the allocation of resources within designated area of responsibility and ensure leadership, monitoring of performance, continuous service improvement and quality of service delivery in compliance with current legislation and regulations
- Assist the Waste Operations Supervisor in the deployment of labour, plant and machinery ensuring laid down programmes of work are completed to a high standard
- Check all daily/weekly work sheets and vehicle pre use check books are completed and returned promptly
- Assist with the training and development of staff to ensure competence in duties appropriate to their job role
- Assist the Waste Operations Supervisor with the delivery services to ensure deliveries are made promptly to service user’s i.e. Members of the public, voluntary organisations, churches, clubs, and inter departmental as required
Essential Criteria for candidates:
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s, Grade C or above to include Maths and English Language, and be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have one year’s supervisory experience within an operational service area.
OR
Alternatively, consideration may be given candidates who do not processes the required education qualification but can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific example(s), that they have two years’ supervisory experience within an operational service area.
Must have an understanding of the waste sector
Must have an understanding of Health and Safety legislation including risk assessments and COSHH
Must have an understanding of the main issues and developments affecting service delivery within the service portfolio.
Must have A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle
Competent in the use a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office
