Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour
Location: 1st Floor Clare House, Airport Road West, Belfast. BT3 9ED
Start Date: 18th July 2026
Expected Duration: 4th October 2026 with possibility of extension
Working Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday

The purpose of the job is to assist DAERA’s Behavioural Insights Branch within Green Growth Innovation Division. The job holder will play a key role in supporting the development of a draft Climate Public Engagement Strategy. The individual will work closely with internal and external teams to provide expertise to support the development, implementation and monitoring arrangements for the delivery of a NI Climate Public Engagement Strategy.
Main Duties / Key Responsibilities Assist the development of a NI Climate Public Engagement Strategy Assist in the development of engagement pilot project proposals. Attendance at various meetings, stakeholder events, launches, conferences etc (potentially across NI). Assist with maintaining a professional online presence – Intranet – maintaining and updating NICS Behavioural Insights Hub. Support in the preparation of communications ensuring all outputs are accessible and aligned with NICS communications standards. General Responsibilities Contribute to the preparation and development of business cases as directed/required. Assist with stakeholder engagement mapping exercises as required. Contribute to the general activities of the branch as may be necessary. Business travel may be required for the role so access to own transport is required. This list is not exhaustive but provides a good indication of the main duties of the post. The emphasis on particular duties may vary over time and will be dependent on business need.
Essential Criteria:
• Competent in the use of IT, including use of MS Suite products and video-conferencing software, and Information Management Systems. • Effective organisational skills, be self-motivating with the ability to identify, manage and respond to changing priorities and the confidence and competence to exercise own initiative and contribute to ways to improve systems and processes. • Good interpersonal skills, working collaboratively, sharing information, and building professional relationships with relevant stakeholders in order to help achieve business objectives and goals. • Excellent verbal and written communication
skills including editing and proofreading abilities with a high attention to detail. • Evidence of at least 1 year of experience in data analysis to inform or influence change. Qualifications • 5 GCSE’s at grade C and above including Maths and English • Third level qualification in Social Science, Psychology or a related field; Or/ • A post graduate qualification in Behavioural Science or Behavioural Change.
