Our client, Libraries NI are currently seeking to recruit a Building Supervisor to join their team in Ballymena
Pay rate is £13.68 per hour plus Holiday pay.
Mon-Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm
The post holder may also be required to deliver a high level of maintenance service across the Borough, ensuring that works are completed in accordance with the clients requirements and in compliance with all relevant Statutory Legislation. Working unsupervised or as part of a team, carry out a full range of maintenance duties efficiently and effectively, in a range of weather and working conditions
Job Duties:
- Undertake general maintenance duties or repairs including replacement of electric lamps, particularly in difficult-to-reach areas using ladders, scaffolding towers and / or hydraulic hoists as necessary, minor plumbing repairs including clearing blockages in pipes, repairing leaking taps, bleeding radiators etc, repairing door handles, door locks, seating etc, varnishing of conservatory seating on an annual basis, basic cleaning of roof lights, maintain external areas including power hosing, gritting, paving repairs etc, assist with moving furniture, piano, room set-ups and displays when necessary.
- Assist maintenance contractors when on site to include passenger lifts, heating controls, ventilation, fire and intruder alarm, electrical, plumbing etc. Liaising with appropriate staff and external contractors in relation to work being undertaken.
- Responsible for interpreting plans, evaluating jobs, selecting materials, completing tasks to a timescale and liaising with appropriate staff and external contractors in relation to work being undertaken.
- Conduct weekly testing of fire alarm system and monthly testing programme of emergency lights ensuring appropriate log books and records are maintained.
- Responsible for the specialist equipment for site investigations and works, and set up of plant and equipment.
- Drive and be responsible for assigned vehicle, including carrying out vehicle checks requiring routine maintenance (for example oil and water checks) and the cleaning of vehicle, transporting goods, equipment and personnel.
- Responsible for the general safety on site of work colleagues and members of the public; if necessary supervision of operatives on site, including working at heights, using elevated platforms and wearing of personal protective equipment.
- Action duties of maintenance programme as set out by line management/ supervisor, and working to the plan set out by designated officer at each facility. Recording work completed on each visit.
- Inspect, maintain and report on Council plant and equipment as required.
- Maintain, report and advise on materials stock and facility oil levels.
- Assist in the discharge of Building Maintenance Team undertakings in respect of all public events (such as festive lighting, Christmas trees etc.).
Criteria:
- experience working as Assistant Building Supervisor, Caretaker or similar role in a medium/large building * must be demonstrated on CV
- 2 year’s experience in a similar role carrying out general maintenance duties/ technical support
- Ability to set out jobs from drawings and specifications and requisition the necessary installation materials.
- Ability to work as a team or with minimum supervision using own initiative.
- Knowledge of Building Fabric
- Hold a full current driving license (valid in the UK)
