Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in Newforge is looking for an Business Support Manager to join their team.
Duration: Initially expected to last for 6 months with an option to extend
Rate of pay: £20.95
Location: Newforge
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Main Duties:
Finance & Corporate Affairs Division is responsible for the management of the departments corporate functions and has a key role in supporting the delivery of services by the departments science divisions.
FCAD’s Governance and Performance branch also provides central co-ordination of a range of corporate functions including providing secretariat support to the CEO and Executive Management Team.
Key functions of the role include –
To work in partnership with the Director of Finance and Corporate Affairs and Heads of Branch in the administration of the Division and associated business processes, including attending senior level meetings and supporting strategic projects.
To support the Division to ensure the highest level of business planning and corporate governance.
Working with the departments Secretariat unit to co-ordinate and track and report progress on actions from key corporate meetings and initiatives
Prepare briefing papers for Director of FCAD and CEO on a range of corporate and divisional issues, ensuring that papers are produced on time and to the required standard
Contribute to a range of strategic initiatives including the monitoring of key corporate and divisional projects and initiatives in liaison with Project Management Office including the development of relevant documentation, monitoring and reporting on progress
Assist in the development and writing of strategic initiatives and documentation for the Division, including divisional/branch business plans, risk registers, business continuity plans, policies and processes.
Review and analysis of business-related data including the development, collation and reporting of Corporate, divisional and branch KPIs.
Developing successful working relationships with FCAD Heads of Branch and scientific staff across the institute. Liaise with staff and other business managers to ensure that business is dealt with in a timely manner. Identifying, independently, other staff within the Directorate to coordinate input, responses and actions.
Identifying policy and planning issues within the Directorate and raising these with senior staff, providing outline recommendations on how to deal with specific issues. Supporting the Director in assimilating strategy and planning activities across the senior management team, seeking to ensure alignment and coordination across teams.
Develop key business cases for procurement of items and services and assist senior staff in the production of robust and accurate business cases before their submission for approval.
Ensure that all internal branch reporting requirements to the Director and Executive Management Team are fully addressed, including any ad hoc requests for information that may be required.
Essential Criteria:
Third Level qualification and at least 3 years-experience in a governance and business support role .
Experience of providing support and strategic development of systems/processes to maintain business performance and to meet financial and non-financial reporting requirements;
Experience of providing support to senior staff and directors
Experience in cooperate governance and development of business plans and business continuity plans
Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work as part of a team or under own initiative in order to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience of delivering written reports and presenting to senior management
Highly proficient MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills, and general IT confidence and literacy.
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with attention to detail
Business case development skills and experience of governmental procurement processes and governance.
Ability to work at a very fast pace within a very fluid environment, where priorities change fast.
