Job Opportunity: Care Taker – Ballymena Community Centre

Location: Ballymena
Contract Type: Casual, On-Call
Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week, between 8:00am – 10:00pm. Work will be as required, including evenings, weekends, and Public/Bank Holidays.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 per hour
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Care Taker to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and cleanliness of Ballymena and its surrounding environment. You will act as the primary key holder, provide on-site supervision during bookings and activities, and deliver excellent customer service to all visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and secure the premises as directed.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the centre and adjacent facilities.
  • Respond to public enquiries in person and by telephone.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of cash receipts, documentation, and reports.
  • Liaise with user groups regarding Health & Safety requirements.
  • Assist customers with the Council’s Community Centres Online Booking Service.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Entry Level Essential Skills qualifications in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy.
    OR
  • Experience:
    • 6–12 months in facility operations (cleaning and security duties).
    • 6–12 months dealing with members of the public and handling queries.
    • 6–12 months undertaking administrative duties in a customer-focused environment.
