About the Role

We are seeking qualified and experienced Casual Swim Teachers to deliver high-quality swimming lessons across leisure centres in Ballymena, Larne, and Carrickfergus.

This casual role is suited to swimming teachers who are available to work on an as-and-when-required basis and are committed to helping individuals of all ages and abilities develop swimming skills, confidence, and lifelong healthy activity habits within a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured swimming lessons and classes
  • Provide inclusive swimming opportunities for all sections of the community
  • Work closely with Duty Officers to support effective session delivery
  • Identify and respond to the needs of individual swimmers and groups
  • Assist in ensuring equitable access to swimming programmes
  • Support monitoring of programme impact on health and wellbeing
  • Assist in developing links with schools, clubs, and community groups as required
  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of swimming sessions, including equipment set-up
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, council policies, and procedures
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, accountability, and customer service

Hours of Work

  • Casual, agency-based hours
  • Work offered on an as-and-when-required basis
  • Availability required for evenings, weekends, and public holidays, subject to service needs

Essential Criteria

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold a recognised Swimming Teacher qualification
    (Level 2 – ASA / STA / Swim Ireland)
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience delivering swimming lessons

Transport

  • Hold a full, current UK driving licence and have access to suitable transport
    OR
  • Have access to transport that enables full duties to be carried out
    (reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a declared disability)
