Catering Assistant – Newry.

Hours: 7:30am–2:30pm and 1:00pm–8:00pm (must be able to work both shifts)
Days: Monday–Friday with occasional weekends
32.5 hours per week
£12.51 per hour Monday – Friday, £17.64 per hour Saturday and Sunday £22.90

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Catering Assistant to join our hospital catering team in Newry. This role involves supporting the delivery of high‑quality food services to patients, staff and visitors, with a strong focus on maintaining excellent hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Food Service & Support

• Assisting with meal preparation and food service to patients and staff
• Setting up, replenishing and maintaining food and beverage stations
• Providing friendly, efficient customer service at all times
• Ensuring dietary requirements and portion controls are followed correctly

Dishwash & Cleaning Duties

• Operating and cleaning industrial dishwashers
• Loading and unloading trays, utensils, crockery and equipment
• Refilling detergent, rinse‑aid and other machine consumables
• Pre‑rinsing and sorting items before washing
• Cleaning sinks, wash‑up areas, work surfaces and floors
• Safely disposing of waste and following infection‑control procedures
• Reporting faults with dishwashing equipment

General Duties

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across kitchen and service areas
• Following all food hygiene, safety and infection‑control policies
• Assisting colleagues and supporting smooth kitchen operations

About You

• Previous catering or cleaning experience (hospital or healthcare desirable but not essential)
• Ability to work both required shift patterns
• Strong teamwork, reliability and a positive attitude
• Understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices
