🌿 We’re Hiring: Cemetery Operative (£13.69/hour)

Join a dedicated team that plays a vital role in caring for cemetery grounds and supporting families during sensitive moments. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to work outdoors and make a meaningful impact in your community.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing

• Grounds Care & Maintenance Keep cemetery sites clean and tidy by maintaining buildings, removing litter, emptying bins, and ensuring horticultural standards.
• Burial Preparation & Grave Digging Mark out, excavate, and prepare graves safely and respectfully—by hand and using machinery.
• Record Keeping & Map Management Maintain accurate grave records and maps, and upload key data to digital systems.
• Working with Families & Professionals Liaise compassionately with undertakers, clergy, stonemasons, and the public.
• Memorial & Safety Inspections Monitor for damage or hazards and conduct routine safety checks.
• Machinery Operation Safely operate mowers, strimmers, and other maintenance tools with attention to health & safety.

✅ What You Need to Apply

• Entry Level qualifications in Adult Literacy and Numeracy
• At least 1 year of experience in:
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Operating tools and machinery (e.g. ride-on/pedestrian mowers, strimmers)
• Valid driving licence
• PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates (or willingness to attain within six months of appointment)
