Position: Materials Services Officer
Band: Band 2
Salary: £11.45 per hour
Location: Receipt & Distribution Centre, Belfast City Hospital, Lisburn Road, Belfast BT7 9AB
Working Hours: 8am-4pm Mon-Thurs and 7.30-3.30 on Friday. If required to work at Mater Hospital the time is 7am-3pm
Job Summary:
The Materials Services Officer will provide an efficient and effective Electronic Materials Management (EMM) service to the Trust. This role supports daily hospital operations by managing the ordering, delivery, and storage of EMM goods, and involves receipt, picking, and issuing of items at the hospital’s distribution points.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Management: Record and scan ward/department stock levels for re-ordering, inputting data into the EMM system, and liaising with customers as needed.
- Delivery Operations: Deliver goods to wards/departments, remove packaging, and organize stock in designated locations, ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.
- Stock Rotation: Ensure proper stock rotation by effectively operating the regional EMM system.
- Waste Management: Return waste packaging for collection and disposal within set timescales.
- Receiving Deliveries: Follow established procedures for receipt and checking of deliveries.
- Customer Liaison: Communicate with ward/department staff regarding stock usage trends and supply matters.
- Technology Utilization: Use barcode scanners, printers, PCs, and wireless equipment to facilitate information flow.
- Product Familiarity: Develop knowledge of products utilized by various wards/departments.
- Inventory Control: Assist with perpetual inventory checks and ensure secure handling of goods.
- General Store Duties: Maintain good housekeeping and assist in operating materials handling equipment.
- Flexibility: Provide cover for other on-site and off-site stores as needed, adapting to service requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Basic understanding of inventory management and logistics.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to use technology and systems for inventory tracking.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing service needs.
- 3 GCSE’s C or above including English and Maths
