Casual Community Centre Caretaker – Carrickfergus

Location: Carrickfergus
Pay: £13.26 per hour
Hours: Casual, as and when required
Temporary position

The Recruitment Co. is currently recruiting for a Casual Community Centre Caretaker to work across Community Centres within the Carrickfergus area.

This is a varied, customer-facing role where you will help ensure community facilities are clean, safe, secure and ready for use. You will also provide support to members of the public and community groups using the facilities.

Key Duties

  • Ensure the Community Centre and surrounding areas are kept clean, tidy and hygienic.
  • Open and secure premises as required and act as a key holder.
  • Provide cover for bookings, activities and Council events.
  • Set up and take down furniture and equipment for bookings.
  • Respond to enquiries from members of the public and facility users.
  • Carry out basic administrative duties and maintain relevant records.
  • Carry out visual safety and security checks.
  • Report repairs, defects, incidents and accidents appropriately.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with health and safety procedures.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs, including English Language and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications.
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience in:
    • The operation of facilities, including cleaning and security duties.
    • Dealing with members of the public and responding to queries.
    • Undertaking administrative duties within a customer-focused environment.

Alternatively, applicants who do not hold the required GCSE qualifications may be considered if they can demonstrate a minimum of 1 year’s experience across the key areas listed above.

Applicants must also:

  • Be available to respond to call-outs outside of core working hours within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Be available to work flexibly across Community Centres within the Carrickfergus area, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Hold a full current driving licence valid in the UK and have access to a vehicle, or have access to suitable transport that enables them to carry out the duties of the role.
