Job Title: Design Engineer
Location: Newport
Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: Full time. The role is 37 hours per week Mon-Thur 08:00 – 16:45
Fri 08:00-12.00

Here at The Recruitment co we are currently recruiting a Design Engineer to work for a company based in Newport on a full time and permanent contract.

Main Job Roles

• Mechanical product design
• Product realisation
• 3D CAD/Solidworks
• 2D CAD
• BOM and mechanical drawing generation compliant with specification
• Support current engineering projects
• Design FMEA
• Part standardisation
• Support VA/VE activities
• Engineering change control
• Understanding of casting process from initial pattern design through to finishing
• A knowledge of fasteners and their application
• A knowledge of torque, together with its application and measurement
• Ability to confirm parts against drawing by measurement
• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
• Obtain knowledge of engineering materials and their properties
• Implement continuous improvement of methodology
• Resolve technical problems, generate and implement countermeasures
• Develop creative working practices
• Ensure customer satisfaction
• New product introduction

Required Experience

• Qualified to Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent, preferably with an understanding of 3D CAD
• 3D CAD/Solidworks
• 2D CAD
• Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE)
• Mechanical measurement techniques
• Enterprise resource planning (ERP)
• Data manipulation
• Problem solving tools
• Analysis
• IT skills
• Material properties – base metals
• CNC Machining techniques / workshop practices
