We are currently recruiting for an Executive officer 2 based in Belfast. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months with a possibility of extension
Rate of pay: £15.83
Hours of work: 9 to 5; Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will work in Workforce Policy Directorate. The key duties and responsibilities of the post include:
Submissions
• Set up templates and prepare first draft for submissions for the review of your line manager
• Record submissions on relevant spreadsheet
Policy development
• To support the preparation of first drafts, issue (once approved) and update website for all terms & conditions related TCS circulars
• To provide advice and guidance to HSC and Departmental colleagues on the interpretation of policy and employment legislation
• Provide first draft of amended policy documents/be part of the process to draft and clarify new policy documents
Ministerial Support
• Provide support to Minister, Permanent Secretary & senior officials (i.e. Private Office Enquiries, submissions & briefing)
Line management responsibilities
• Line management duties may form part of this role
• Provide support and guidance to team member
• Fulfil all Northern Ireland Civil service line management requirements e.g. performance reviews, training where necessary, etc.
The above represents the main strands of work of the current post. However, Workforce Policy is a dynamic and rapidly developing area and the duties of the post can be expected to change as new business priorities emerge for the Directorate.
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Good verbal and written communication skillsand be comfortable dealing with senior officials;
• Good listening, note taking and summarising skills
• The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues at all levels within the Department as well as external stakeholders
• The ability to work as part of a team;
• The ability to work with the minimum of supervision;
• The ability to analyse/research information, identify issues and suggest workable solutions to problems
• Good organisation and planning skills; and,
• Good knowledge of IT.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:
Proof of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grade C or above or the equivalent and 2 A-levels
· Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Access to a vehicle/form of transport as will be required to undertake in person meetings with and observation visits with Funded groups across the province (some of these areas will be rural and not on public transport routes).
