Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in the Enniskillen area is looking for an Equine Lecturer to join their team.

Duration: Up to 12 Months (Subject to Review)

Rate of pay: £19.55

Location: Enniskillen Campus

Hours: 37 Hours per Week – Mainly within 9am-5pm (The successful candidate may be required to work outside normal working hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends / public holidays)

Main Duties:

• Develop, co-ordinate and deliver modules and units of teaching to meet  Organisational quality and Awarding Body standards.
• Responsibility for delivering student induction, industry visits and study tours and career guidance.
• Engage in Marketing and student recruitment.
• Maintain class discipline and engagement in class and during out of class activities.
• As year manager/module co-ordinator, monitor and evaluate students’ progress through regular tutorials both at year manager and individual module levels, and offer recommendations on academic progress to the student progress committee.
• Mentor and manage students to ensure their full learning potential is realised and integrate the relevant academic support to students ensuring that all Special Educational Needs and Disability (Northern Ireland) Order (SENDO) adjustments are fully implemented.
• Assess coursework and exams and provide students with feedback on coursework and assessment results.
• Liaise with the awarding bodies QUB, UU Edexcel, C&G, Lantra etc and provide comprehensive module folders for external examiners.
• Support the wider teaching team by providing teaching to learners in specialist technical areas.
• Supervise student projects at HE level.
• Take responsibility for the Integration of Technology Enhanced Learning within the modules.
• Take a pro-active role in developing and creating a pedagogical environment that is student focused team driven, system-orientated and promotes educational opportunities.

Essential Criteria:

1. Possess a degree in Veterinary Science or an equivalent qualification or at least an Honours degree (2.2 classification), or an equivalent qualification, in Equine Management or Equine Science, or Biological Science based subject or Veterinary Physiotherapy or Animal Nutrition, or a closely related subject;

AND

2. At least 12 months, full time equivalent, experience working in the equine industry.

Desirable Criteria:

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
As the postholder is required to deliver higher education programmes it would be preferable to possess a 2.1 degree or higher.
Post Graduate Qualification in equine related subject.
Teaching Experience
A full, current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
