We are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant (AO grade) based in the Belfast Area. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.
Start date: ASAP
Duration: up until March 2024
Rate of pay: £11.99
Hours of work: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm) but can avail of a flexible working hours scheme.
Hybrid working available.
(Staff required to work from the office for at least two days per month as part of the hybrid working arrangements – currently the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month).
Key Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for supporting the work of the Finance Officer, Head of Corporate Services and, where appropriate, other staff across the department:
- Completing financial administrative tasks relating to orders, invoices, income, and the receipt and distribution of goods and services.
- Undertaking general office and administrative duties, as required.
- Assisting in the provision of secretariat support to the business area Audit & Risk Assurance Committee;
- Maintaining and replenishing office supplies.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:
- five GCSE/GCE passes (at A, B or C) with Maths and English.

A minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade C or above, or equivalent, which must include English Language and Maths.
At least two years relevant experience of finance and administrative duties, where relevant is defined as possessing experience in ALL of the following –
o Finance administration, including use of accountancy software.
o General administration – e.g. dealing with telephone callers, incoming / outgoing post, filing, handling correspondence, keeping records, and updating registers.
o Meeting administration – e.g. preparing / issuing papers, taking notes, booking rooms.
NB: In the absence of the specified educational qualifications listed at 1 above, have four years relevant experience of finance and administrative duties as outlined in 2(a) – 2(c) above.
- Excellent IT skills in the use ofMS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
- Goodverbal and written communications skills.
