General Operative / Cleaner

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a busy production and manufacturing team based in Lisburn.

This is a varied, hands-on position supporting the production of containerised gas engines. The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Foreperson, Team Leaders and wider manufacturing team to ensure production activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production or General Operative who is comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Operative, your duties will include:

• Supporting the production and preparation of containerised gas engine sets.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards across the shopfloor and panel shop.
• Ensuring waste is removed and disposed of in the appropriate skips and bins.
• Returning tools, cables and equipment to the correct locations after use.
• Cleaning and painting sets as required prior to despatch.
• Baling cardboard and assisting with general waste management.
• Unloading deliveries and trucks using a forklift.
• Delivering materials and items to the shopfloor as required.
• Completing allocated work in line with relevant method statements and risk assessments.
• Ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards.
• Following all Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Supporting the timely completion and despatch of units.
• Assisting the Production Foreperson and Team Leaders with production requirements.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across other departments.
• Carrying out additional reasonable duties as required by management.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of production processes and working practices.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

• Manual Handling training.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a busy production environment.
• A valid Forklift Licence.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a busy production team.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A strong focus on achieving results and maintaining high standards.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory in-house training associated with the role.
• A full current driving licence, where applicable.
