We are currently recruiting a Governance Officer for our client based in Bangor BT19 Rathgael House. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork and ANI completed.

Start date: ASAP

Rate of pay: £19.59ph

Hours of work: 37 Full time 9 – 5pm Mon to Fri

Key Responsibilities:

The postholder is responsible for assisting the Deputy Principal to administer the key processes to enable DE to fulfil its Sponsorship role for the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment (CCEA) under the Department of Finance publication Managing Public Money Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities include:
Coordinate and provide administrative support to regular Governance and Accountability Review Meetings (GARs), DE/CCEA Business Oversight Meetings and the Community of Lifesavers Oversight Group. This will include but is not limited to collating relevant input, providing comprehensive background briefing, transcribing accurate minutes and monitoring follow up actions to ensure they are completed.

Undertake specific activities to support the delivery of CCEA business, including maintaining a register of CCEA Business Cases and Post Project Evaluations.

Provide advice and support as required to internal and external stakeholders / organisations.

Assist with the development and implementation of the new Partnership Agreement between DE as sponsor Department and CCEA.

Assist with the planned Landscape Review of CCEA and co-ordinate follow up action arising from any subsequent recommendations.

Provide SO support to other EGT functions, including (but not limited to); the administration of monitoring of grant support for Sectoral Bodies (CSSC, CSTS and GBA); DE and ALB Annual and Mid-Year Governance Statements; DE and ALB Business Planning and Risk Management; Ministerial Public Appointments.

Ministerial Support – provide high quality, timely and accurate briefing for the Minister, Senior Officials and the Education Committee, drafting responses to Assembly Questions, Ministerial Correspondence, and Committee Official Reports and responding to Freedom of Information (FoI) and Data Protection/GDPR enquiries.

The post does not currently carry line management responsibility. The postholder may however from time to time be required to assist with management responsibilities for staff within the wider team.

Essential Criteria applicants must have:

  • Degree

* 5 GCSEs incl. English & Maths
* Minimum 1 years’ experience of working in governance/compliance

Desired

* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Experience in providing secretariat support
