Job Title: Health & Safety Manager
Location: Newport
Salary: £45,000 but can be more for the right person

Hours: Full time. Monday – Friday 08.00 am to 18.00 covering all the sites above but you would need to live local to one above

Here at The Recruitment Co we are currently recruiting an Health & Safety Manager to work for a company based covering all the sites above but you would need to live local to one above.

We are recruiting for a HSE Manager to provide support & Guidance of Health Safety and Environmental issues to the Operational depot management teams.
You will work closely with the QSHET & Operation Director and other stakeholders to ensure safety awareness and responsible behaviour is always promoted.
You should have a very strong construction / crane industry background with the ability to work with Management Systems compliant with ISO 9000, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 including developing continuous improvement principles.


  • Assist and implementation of an Effective Safety an Environmental management strategy and plans, for the region, to support, to contribute to, and integrate within, the Group annual business plan and long- term strategy.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of systems to established standards relating to activities and products and monitoring and measurement of performance against
    established standards.
  • Assist in the communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues across the business.
  • Ensuring that regional operations are effectively implemented and are compliant with the company management system IMS.
  • Accommodate 3 rd party external surveillance visits/audits to maximise the time and effectiveness of the visit.
  • Produce monthly QHSET performance reports with the team to present at regular Operational meetings.
  • Ensure that the company fulfils its legal obligations with the respect to the provision off first aid facilities, fire precautions, statutory tests, examinations and inspections, and the
    provision of protective clothing and equipment, in so far as these are required on site.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient job specific risk assessments/method statements are produced and supervisors and operators are briefed and aware of their requirements.

Required Experience

  • NEBOSH CERTIFICATE (Level 3) Minimum
  • NEBOSH Construction (Desirable)
  • Internal Safety Auditor or Health/Safety, Quality & Environmental training (ISO 9001 ISO 14001 & ISO45001)
  • CCNSG Train the Trainer (desirable)
  • Accident and Incident investigation and reporting required.
  • Cranes / Lifting operations experience knowledge of BS7121
  • Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management systems.
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Auditing.
  • CDM Regs, LOLER Regs, PUWER Regs
