Location: Craigavon Area Hospital, Daisy Hill Hospital and St Luke’s Hospital Site
Directorate: Surgical & Clinical Services – Radiology
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend rota participation)
Contract: Permanent
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Higher Clerical Officer (Band 3) to join our Radiology Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to provide essential support in a busy healthcare environment, helping to deliver an efficient and patient-focused radiology service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patient appointments, maintaining accurate records, responding to telephone and face-to-face enquiries, and supporting the day-to-day administration of Radiology services across Trust sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Book and manage inpatient and outpatient radiology appointments.
- Provide a professional reception and administrative service to patients, staff and visitors.
- Maintain accurate patient information on radiology systems including RIS, PACS and Encompass.
- Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries efficiently and courteously.
- Process appointment changes, cancellations and follow-up actions.
- Generate appointment letters and patient information.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, ambulance services and interpreters as required.
- Support records requests and general clerical duties including scanning, filing and email management.
- Work flexibly across Trust Radiology sites to meet service requirements.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
- 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C), including English Language (or equivalent/higher qualification), and 1 year’s clerical/administrative experience; or
- 2 years’ clerical/administrative experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Word.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A responsible and confidential approach to handling sensitive information.
- A full UK driving licence and access to transport (or suitable alternative transport arrangements where applicable).
- Flexibility to work across Southern Trust Radiology sites and participate in evening and weekend rotas when required.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience using hospital information systems such as PAS, RIS, PACS, or similar healthcare databases.
