Location: Belfast (BT8)
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £13.57 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ICT Technician to join our team at the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and delivering a wide range of IT systems and services across the Trust.

As part of the ICT team, you will assist with the implementation, operation, and improvement of IT infrastructure, systems, remote access solutions, and telephony services. You will also provide frontline technical support, ensuring incidents are managed and resolved promptly in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Trust’s IT strategy and related policies.
  • Provide end-user support and undertake complex fault diagnosis and resolution for IT systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for IT and telephony services.
  • Deliver primary frontline support for hardware and software used in Control Rooms and associated services.
  • Maintain and develop Active Directory and email accounts.
  • Support and maintain the AVAYA VOIP telephone system and associated hardware.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in ICT plus 1 year’s experience in installation and support of network-based computer equipment
    OR
  • HND or equivalent qualification in ICT plus 2 years’ experience
    OR
  • 4 years’ experience in installation and support of network-based computer equipment

Experience & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications and Windows OS
  • Practical experience in network administration and troubleshooting (hubs, switches, routers)
  • Experience with Help Desk Management Systems and intranet/internet technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex technical data and provide clear advice
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Effective planning and prioritisation skills

Other Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or suitable alternative for applicants with a disability)
  • Participation in the ICT on-call rota
