We are currently recruiting for an Equine Industrial Worker based in the Enniskillen area. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, & additional clearances have been completed

Start date: ASAP

Duration: Approx 6 months

Rate of pay: £11.99

Hours of work: Monday to Friday: 9:00AM to 5:00PM (including a 30 minute meal break per day, Monday to Friday). In addition, a requirement of the post will be that the successful candidate may be required to work outside normal working hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends / public holidays.

Main Duties:

The main duties of the post will include:
1. Carrying out day-to-day estate duties associated with the campus facilities (education and residential properties) and the equine enterprises (breeding, equitation and racing);
2. Recording information (for example electronic data) relating to the energy usage or the equine enterprises;
3. Complying with all CAFRE Health and Safety policies and procedures;
4. Supervising and recording student performance while students are carrying out practical duties;
5. Assisting in duties associated with CAFRE education and knowledge transfer, events and other activities which may be located off campus;
6. Driving duties which will include driving departmental vehicles; and
7. Assisting with other general estate/ farm duties as required.
The above list is not exhaustive but gives a good indication of the main duties of the post.
Given the duties involved for this role, the post holder will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to fulfil the full range of duties required for the post.
A core requirement of the post will be that the agency worker will be required to work outside normal working hours including early mornings (for example every second week during the academic year), evenings (for example late evening stock check) and also weekends / public holidays.

 

Essential Criteria:

1. A formal equine qualification to at least Level 2, (e.g. NVQ Level 2, British Horse Society Stage 2, Level 2 Diploma in Horse care) or equivalent and at least 2 years, full time equivalent, experience of horse husbandry, including grooming and the practical use of a broad range of items of horse tack when working in an equine yard.

2. A full, current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
