Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in Stormont is looking for a Licensing Assistant to join their team.

Duration: July 2026 with possible extension

Rate of pay: £15.83

Location: Stormont

Hours: 37 hours per week

Start date: ASAP

Main Duties:

On completion of training, this post is suitable for hybrid working.
The Licensing Unit works closely with Prisoner Development Units (PDUs) within the prison establishments and with the Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) both in the prisons and the community.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for a number of areas in a fast-paced and reactive environment. These will include:
Lead on the processing of all Parole Commissioners for Northern Ireland (PCNI) recall release cases.
Lead on the processing of requests for the variation, insertion or cancellation of licence conditions within agreed timescales.
Assist with the preparation of licences for authorisation prior to the release date of prisoners, liaise with the Deputy Director (or other designated authoriser) as necessary and follow through on the process for issuing licences.
Provide advice to colleagues in the PDUs & PBNI on the use of licence conditions as and when required.
Maintain statistical data and records associated with the licensing process.
Provide information and statistics as and when required by various stakeholders including NIPS and DoJ and also for inclusion in Assembly Questions, Correspondence Cases and Minister’s Cases.
Cover administrative duties in the absence of the AO including the processing of payments on Account NI.
Monitoring the Licencing mailbox (shared responsibility) – this needs to be monitored between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Essential Criteria:

Applicants must have 2 A levels and demonstrate a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the following:

Managing a Quality Service
• Experience maintaining accurate case records and statistical data.
• Ability to interpret and apply policy and procedural guidance consistently.
• Demonstrable attention to detail when handling sensitive information.
• Experience in writing clear, factual, and defensible reports or case updates relating to individuals/organisations.

Making Effective Decisions
• Ability to analyse information from multiple sources and form balanced recommendations.
• Experience making timely, defensible decisions within defined authority levels.
• Confidence in identifying when issues require escalation.

Delivering at Pace
• Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain performance under pressure.

Working Together
• Experience liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to provide clear advice and guidance within own area of responsibility.

Desired Criteria:

Experience working with licensing, recall, release processes or offender management.
• Experience liaising with prisons, probation services, or justice partners.
• Relevant qualification in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Health & Social Care, or related field.
