Location: Lisburn
Hours: 37 per week, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Salary: £16.37 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join our Lisburn & Castlereagh Area Team. In this frontline technical role, you will carry out inspections of Housing Executive homes and properties, ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard and that tenants receive an excellent customer experience.
You will play a vital part in maintaining safe, high-quality housing by assessing repairs, authorising works, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring value for money. This role also supports change-of-tenancy works, minor adaptations, and planned maintenance programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect domestic and commercial properties pre- and post‑repair, including fire/flood damage and void properties.
- Ensure repair works meet required standards and authorise payments within delegated limits.
- Carry out ad‑hoc technical inspections and arrange specialist referrals when required.
- Respond to PSNI forced-entry reports and raise securing works as needed.
- Liaise closely with contractors, administrative teams, and technical specialists to meet KPIs.
- Highlight deficiencies in service delivery and follow up with contractors or managers.
- Provide tenants with updates and advice on repairs and maintenance responsibilities.
- Work with Customer Service staff to manage repair requests and queries.
- Support Patch Managers in identifying and recovering repair-related costs.
- Conduct Public Liability Insurance (PLIC) inspections and prepare associated reports.
- Assist with planned maintenance schemes and minor property adaptations working alongside Occupational Therapists.
Essential Requirements
- At least 4 years’ relevant experience in social housing maintenance.
- Level 3 qualification in a construction-related trade.
- Strong technical knowledge with practical experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors and internal staff.
- Competent IT skills (Intermediate level).
- A strong team player with accurate record‑keeping skills.
- Basic Access NI check required.
