The Recruitment Co are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Technician based in Bootle.
Summary of Duties:
The role requires you to undertake proactive and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure maximum uptime of assets. As a maintenance technician you will work on heavy static plant such as shears, balers, shredders, conveyor systems, metal sorting equipment, mobile plant and other relevant equipment used within the metal recycling industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- To Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on a variety of plant and apparatus
- To comply with all machine operating systems
- To complete and maintain all documentation on the CMMS
- To make written and/or verbal reports to line managers as required
- To attend progress meetings with line managers as and when required
- To comply with Company policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Manual and the post holder’s terms & particulars of employment
- Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements where applicable and raising work permits
- Inspect work areas and equipment for deficiencies, hazards, and malfunctions and report all discrepancies and unsafe acts or working conditions to the Maintenance team leader, working together to investigate and resolve them quickly
- To carry out any additional duties that may be requested from time to time
Key Competencies: - The ability to work as part of a team and assist colleagues and other departments

- Excellent time keeping and attendance
- The ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- An analytical, problem solving approach
Essential skills: - Proven track record of working in a comparable role
- ONC level qualifications or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant subject
- IT Literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role, including Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Outlook (emails)
Desirable Skills - HNC qualifications in a relevant subject area
- Capable of the diagnosis of component level hydraulic faults
- Ability to operate basic machine shop machinery; lathes, milling machines etc.
- Working knowledge of 3-phase electrics
- Relative experience in metal recycling and other associated processes
